This group of watercolors begins with daily visits to the Barnes & Noble bookstore in New York for two weeks. Although the subjects portrayed are located in public spaces, most appear isolated: the rest of the world doesn't exist. The individuals are immersed in their activities and thoughts. The watercolors express the union of two opposites: solitude in the middle of a crowd.

Also for two weeks, but this time in Mexico City, I make daily visits to Lorenzo Cafe to paint the regular customers. I continue to pursue the contrast between the unique worlds inhabited within the context of public spaces in large cities. Watercolors have no background: what lies beyond doesn't matter, it doesn't exist. Only what individuals construct around themselves in those moments of work, socializing, or having karaoke fun.
